Professor Kovin Naidoo

Prof. Kovin Naidoo, International Optometrist of the year 2007, completed his Bachelor of Optometry degree at the University of Durban-Westville.  As a Fulbright Scholar, he studied for both a Masters degree in Public Health and a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree concurrently in Philadelphia, USA.

He is currently Global Programs Director for ICEE (The International Centre for Eyecare Education), an NGDO focusing on refractive errors and low vision in the elimination of avoidable blindness, which he jointly started with Prof Brien Holden in 1998.

He is also an Associate Professor at the University of KwaZulu Natal’s Optometry Department, adjunct faculty member at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and President elect of the African Council of Optometry (AFCO).  He serves on the Vision 2020 Task Force and is the co-chair of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) in Africa.
